ED 340 (Infant Post)
What information did you not know that you learned that you
think will be important?
Chapter two in the textbook it talked about the importance
of involving the gamily and siblings as part of the visits and the progression.
In my head I imagined other family members being a distraction for the visit
but as we are writing our plans we can also write how to involve them. It is so
important to make sure you have a good, and trusting relationship with the
family. We need to make sure the parents and the children are comfortable with
us that they will be natural and honest in order to help them to the best of
our knowledge and abilities. We need to have clearly defined purposes and
objectives in order to have the greatest impact.
What did you find most useful for the future home visits and
experiences you will have in this class?
I loved learning about the different plans that we will
write. I thought it was interesting that Idaho even has guidelines for infant
development. I thought that the guidelines were only for public school systems,
but you can access the guidelines and standards for even infants. Writing the first few plans will probably be
tough for me because I will have to get used to something that I feel that I am
not super knowledgeable with. The observation of the child and the home is so
important, I feel that when I go into the homes it will take a lot of practice
in order to get used to being observant to everything that is going on at the
same time.
Weekly quote
The reason I love this quote because the Lord really does
give us so many opportunities to learn, grow, and serve- and the more we take
advantage of these opportunities the more he will bless us with the chance to
change our perspective and widen our vision. Christ will always strengthen us
the second we decide to act on the opportunities he gives us. The lord wants us
to grow and become like him and throughout our lives we will as long as we act.
I truly believe teaching has one of the most opportunities daily to touch lives
and to be touched by those that we surround ourselves with whether they are
children, students, parents, or mentors and partners.
