ECSE 340
The most beneficial thing I learned was about the
intervention plans. I feel that not only in this class, but also throughout my
life this is a good way to look for solutions to developmental delays. I loved
using the case study to practice how to plan for different infants according to
their goals and their current development. I appreciated learning that it is
sometimes okay not to agree with what the parent has set the goal as- but it is
a good direction to go in and you still need to respect that parents wishes. I
feel that infants are unpredictable about the things that they will pick up and
understand where as there are other areas where it is difficult to know where
to start because the child is so behind in many different areas. I feel that it
is manageable to choose 2 domains at a time and most of the activities and
strategies will feature more domains than you were probably originally planning
on. For example the case study that we
looked at in class with “Ezra” was interesting because he could pick up things
and he was pretty competent all the way around but we were still able to find
out that we can focus on communication and pointing. Pointing relates to
communication but it also relates to social, being able to talk and show peers
and adults what they want.
I am still pretty confused on how the plans work, especially
when you need to plan for an easier, middle, harder, and a completely different
back up plan, do you usually keep doing the activities in the whole 30 minute
session?
Weekly quote:
2 Nephi 28:30----- 30 For behold, thus saith
the Lord God: I will give unto the children of men line upon line, precept upon
precept, here a little and there a little; and blessed are those who hearken
unto my precepts, and lend an ear unto my counsel, for they shall learn wisdom;
for unto him that receiveth I will give more; and from them that
shall say, We have enough, from them shall be taken away even that which they
have.
As we continue to seek knowledge and experience, the lord
will continue to give us more opportunities to receive revelation and learn
from him. He is our master teacher, and as we strive to be patient with ourselves
we will learn at the speed and rate that he has planned for us as long as we
keep going and keep learning.
